Welcome to The Secret Garden! The Secret Garden is set next to Tintern Abbey. Ideal for those in search of connection to nature, looking to move and breathe
Your cabin is cosy with an open kitchen / living area which has a wood burning stove. There is a double bed partitioned from the living area and there is a bathroom with shower. There are two single sofa beds in the living area making the cabin suitable for a couples retreat or a family of 4 stay.
Guests have access to the cabin and gardens. Free wifi provided. We understand people value their privacy and all of the classes on offer are optional so you decide how much you want to take part in we have a welcome book which will guide you around the area and also facilitate your use of appliances in the cabin. However, if you do need to see us in person for some local knowledge or any issues we are only happy to help.
Other things to note
The Hook Peninsula renowned for its natural beauty and rich in history and adventure. The Secret Garden is located next to Tintern Abbey and the Colclough Walled Gardens. The site used to be a garden center so there are very attractive gardens surrounding the cabin as well as a polytunnel and the yoga dome which is set in the middle of a grove of walnut trees.
Walking distance: The Vine Cottage Bar with play area and BBQ area. Tintern Abbey with Walled Garden and Café. Driving/Cycling nearest villages with amenities are 7.5 km offering a supermarket, petrol station, award wining restaurants, cafés, hairdressers, beauticians, massage healing centre, outdoor adventure centre, bike rentals, pubs and playgrounds. The Peninsula also has the Worlds oldest intact operational lighthouse, The Hook Lighthouse. As a part of Irelands Ancient East the area abounds in points of archaeological and historical interest from Cistercian Abbeys, Norman Fortifications, Napoleonic Towers to Modern history JFK Homestead, Park and Arboretum and The Dunbrody Famine Ship. Finally, the Peninsula offers 14 spectacular sandy beaches, where you can surf, kayak, have a paddle or just play in the beautiful golden sand.
Included in your stay
Bed and Breakfast, you receive a basket full of goodies on arrival to provide you a selection of local and homemade produce and towels are provided as well as fresh ground coffee and teas.
Optional take part in any other group classes that are on the schedule for an additional charge. Classes run six sometimes seven days a week at the dome on site and on Baginbun beach.
Hike the Hook walking tours with Liam run regularly for you to join or take a stroll from the cabin to nearby Tintern Abbey and the forest trails there.
Free range eggs from our hens and access to herbs and the seasonal fruit and vegetables which we have growing in the gardens and polytunnel.
The Secret Garden is on the EuroVelo cycle network, so its ideally located for cyclists. It is also on the Tintern Trails so there are endless adventures hikers are able to have. Cars and bikes can access Waterford via the very scenic Passage East Car Ferry. There are no immediate bus stops, but the Bus 370 services Waterford to Rosslare daily with the nearest stop being Wellington Bridge. The nearest airport is Dublin (180km) Port Rosslare (40km) Towns Waterford (25km) Wexford (25km). Saltmills, Duncannon and Fethard-on-Sea are the nearest villages all located a few minutes away. a friendly working fishing village with shops pubs and restaurants located a 5 minute drive East from The secret Garden. Fethard-on-Sea, another lovely village with a selection of places to shop, eat and drink is located 5 minutes South.

Hi, we are Liam and Niamh and our kids are Ellen and Alex (ages 9 and 8). Together we run classes, retreats and guided tours here on the Hook Peninsula. We enjoy camping and have travelled full time for over two years around Europe in our campervan. We enjoy learning, exploring creating, playing, moving, laughing and love meeting new people.
