Stay in our lovely detached home by the sea soaking up panoramic views of the sea, the harbour and historic landmarks. The Hook Peninsula is simply stunning, rich in history and adventure. The jewel in its crown is Hook Lighthouse which is the oldest working lighthouse in the world and a great place to spend a day playing games there on the lawn, spotting birds, whales, dolphins & seals or searching for fossils in the rocks. The peninsula attracts geologists from all over the world to study its unique geology. There are lots of activities and free events for all the family throughout the year.

Hook Head, County Wexford, Ireland
My favourite beaches are Carnivan & Baginbun where on low tide you can walk across the beach to the smugglers cave, if you’re brave enough you can climb right in and around in a U shape out the other side. We also love Booley & Dollar Bay where an Spanish ship carrying lots of $$$ ran aground, if you’re lucky you might even find one.
No matter what the weather or whatever the season, there is something special about the Hook Peninsula. In winter, you can light up the stoves, stay cosy inside & watch a storm or spot lightning hitting the ocean from the upstairs windows.
Fethard-on-Sea is the local village where you will find everything you need including shops, pubs, restaurants & tourist information.
Our favourite place to walk at Tintern Abbey in Saltmills just a 10 minute drive away. The Abbey was built by William Marshal who also built Hook Lighthouse & is well worrh a visit to the Abbey, tea rooms, forest walking trails & walled gardens.
There are lots of pubs and restaurants in the area to choose from including Templars Inn, Nevilles gastro pub, Roches in Duncannon, Kevin Dundons local at Dunbrody house but if you’re looking for something special book into Michelin star restaurant Aldridge lodge. All these places are within a 10minute drive.
In winter, the stove is the central heating & you will have firelighters and sticks but you may to buy a bale or two of briquettes or stove coal to light the stove.

“We had a fabulous weekend in this spacious, well-equipped house. It is ideally located to explore the Hook peninsula and the views from the first floor are spectacular. The family space on the first floor was especially popular with our children. Niamh is an excellent host, responding immediately to any requests. We will definitely return !” – Niamh, November 2021
“Spent my birthday weekend here with a group of friends. It was perfect, there is loads to do on the hook and the surrounding area is beautiful. The house itself is ideal for a big group, the photos don’t do it justice on how spaciousit is. Niamh was an extremely helpful host, lit the fire for our arrival. Niamh was really responsive in her communication. Would definitely stay again really great place.” – Paddy, October 2021
“Great house, perfect for families with kids, plenty of space, we went with two families with young kids. Lots for the kids to do upstairs and in the garden. Plenty of utensils etc for cooking up a fry and we picked up some grub was Nevilles which was nice. Tesco deliver here which saved a trip for us. Would go back again.” – Phil, September 2021
“My friends and I stayed in Niamh’s and we really enjoyed our time there. Check in and check out were stress free. Niamh was really helpful answering any questions we had before our trip. The house is in a fantastic location, with the light house, harbour, and beaches minutes away. The house was spacious and perfect for our trip and I’d wholly recommend Niamh’s if you are planning a trip to Hook Head.” – Sean, September 2021
